Cranberry OKs development plans
CRANBERRY TWP — The township supervisors Thursday approved final plans for a multifamily development off Powell Road that will be built under the regulations of the township's traditional neighborhood development zoning.
Chatham Commons at Cranberry includes three four-story buildings and one three-story building for 128 residential units on 13.2 acres.
The development is the township's first in the new TND-2 traditional neighborhood development overlay district, which limits commercial development.
This is the first development to be approved as part of the township's new TND overlay zoning districts.
Consultant Jeff Campbell of Rothschild/Doyno had previously said each building will have a mix of single bedroom and two bedroom units. The development also will feature a courtyard and clubhouse with a swimming pool.
The plan's access is adjacent to Bucktail Drive, the main entrance to Park Place, the traditional neighborhood development that is under construction.
Chatham Commons also will be near the existing housing plans of Highland Village and Forest Park.
Traffic improvements will be done at the intersection of Bucktail Drive and Powell Road, which will be one of the main accesses to Graham Park. A traffic light is expected to be installed at the intersection along with lane and sidewalk improvements.
