PARKER, Armstrong County — Parker will hold its annual Community Day on Saturday.

The day will begin with a communitywide yard sale from 9 a.m. until noon.

The pet parade will begin at 10 a.m., followed by a frog jumping contest at 10:30 a.m.

A bicycle parade will begin at 11 a.m. before the lineup for the main parade at noon at the Parker Personal Care Home.

The main parade beginning at 2 p.m. will feature police and fire departments, marching units, as well as the Shriner Zem Zems and others in the community.

Following the parade, rides, games of chance and old-fashioned games will begin at 3 p.m.

Presale ride bracelets are available from any Community Day committee member or at Bob's Place for $5. They also may be bought at the Community Day for $6.

The games of chance include chuck-a-luck, duck pond, penny pitch and ping-pong fish toss.

The old-fashioned games are for children in preschool through sixth grade and will include games such as sawdust pile, lollipop tree, water balloon toss, three-legged race and marshmallow whistle.

A Child-ID program will be at 3 p.m. and the picture contest will begin at 3:30 p.m.

The winners for the beautiful baby and pet contest will be announced at 9 p.m.

The Jeff Shumaker band will play from 7:30 until 9:30 p.m. Fireworks are slated to start at 10 p.m.

Donations will be collected throughout the day to help defray the cost of the event. Donation buckets also will be located at the entrance to the parking lot.
