Police investigating Butler man's stabbing death
ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Police investigators in this Northern Virginia city today said they still are looking for clues in last week's stabbing death of a Butler County man.
Michael James Horton, 45, a lifelong Butler resident with family ties to the Washington, D.C., area, died Thursday of a stab wound to the upper body, authorities said.
An autopsy ruled Horton's death a homicide, according to the Virginia Medical Examiner's Office. It was not known if investigators have a suspect or motive in the killing.
Alexandria police are releasing few details about the case, and are hoping that anyone in Butler who knew of Horton's connections in Northern Virginia and Washington, will call investigators with information.
"We're looking for help from people in Butler County who knew of (Horton's) comings and goings," police Detective Tom Durkin said this morning. "We're trying to find out who he was staying with in Virginia and D.C."
Anyone with information about Horton that could help Virginia authorities, is asked to call the Alexandria police criminal investigations unit at 1-703-838-4711.
