SAXONBURG — Elmcroft of Saxonburg and Friends of the Library will host the Great American Cookout from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 27.Food will include barbecue ham, hot dogs with the event's signature sauce, chips, drinks and pie.Entertainment will include musicians, dancers, face painters, a book sale, a pie eating contest and a 50/50 drawing at 2 p.m.For information, call Karen at 724-352-2827.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock Parks and Recreation office, 230 N. Main St., Slippery Rock, will host an Explore the Deep Blue Sea activity camp for children ages 5 to 10 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. June 29 to July 2.For information, call 724-794-8181.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The Bartramian Audubon Society will hold its annual picnic from 5 to 7:30 p.m. June 28 at the Rotary Shelter at Slippery Rock Park. Signs will be posted the day of the picnic.The society will provide hot dogs and beverages. EAST BUTLER — The East Butler Volunteer Fire Company Ambulance Service is conducting its annual subscription campaign for 2009-2010. Letters were mailed to all residents, businesses and property owners within the service area.Subscription fees are due June 31.Those who wish to donate should call 724-285-6261.

CRANBERRY TWP — The Butler County commissioners will host the eighth Race for Virginia Day at 8:30 a.m. July 4 at the Cranberry Township Community Park, behind the Cranberry Township Fire Station, Route 19.The race is a 5 K run/walk that will benefit Pediatric Cancer care at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.The race will honor Danielle Wick of Butler who passed away Aug. 2, 2008.
