Ted, what happens when the rainy day fund(the millions you refer to) is depleted? The company i work for has money in the bank, but the management is smart enough to plan more than 6 months down the road. These ridiculous contracts and strikes have got to stop! 4-5% raises every year cannot be sustained. Paying virtually the entire medical insurance premium cannot be sustained. My 20% share of medical costs me over $250 per month. How much are the teachers paying? $10? $20? The sad thing is, those teachers will get paid for the time they were on strike, and they will get a big retroactive pay bonus check when they do settle. I still believe that they should get a 3 year pay freeze in exchange for not losing any jobs. Taxpayers are not bottomless pits of money. I did as you suggested, i contacted the board. I thanked them for taking a stand and encouraged them to hold firm.
