Steve Blass has seen plenty in his time with the Pittsburgh Pirates, first as a pitcher, then as a broadcaster.

Blass recently discussed his 50 years as part of the team with Eagle sports editor John Enrietto and the interview will appear in Sunday's edition.

SHIPPENSBURG — Jeff Michaels, who formerly served five years as assistant to the athletic director at Slippery Rock University, was named acting director of athletics at Shippensburg University.Michaels earned his master's degree in athletic administration from SRU in 1993.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University's Matt Adams earned his second first-team all-America honor Thursday when he was named as the top NCAA Division II catcher by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.The honor comes on the heels of Adams earning the National Player of the Year award and a first-team all-America nod from Daktronics Inc.
