Fred E. Holfman, 86, of Madison Avenue, East Butler, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Monday in Meadow Lake Manor of Sugar Creek.

Born in Butler, March 14, 1923, he was the son of the late Fred Holfman and Elva Luther Holfman.

He was a member of the Nazarene church and also was affiliated with the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church.

Mr. Holfman retired in 1985 as a pressman at the Castle Rubber Co.

He enjoyed raising flowers for 60 years.

He was a member of the Jefferson Grange and the Farmers' Market of Butler.

He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Hetrick Holfman, who he married April 21, 1956. He also is survived by one daughter, Marcia Glasgow and her husband, Jamie; one son, Dennis Holfman and his wife, Mary Ellen, both of Butler; five grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and one sister, Mrs. Gladys Blain of Butler.

He was preceded in death by one son and one brother.

<B>HOLFMAN </B> Friends and family of Fred Holfman, who died Monday, April 13, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 124 E. North St. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Jenks of Faith Fellowship Alliance Church officiating.
