Ann L. Ordy
Ann L. Ordy, 92, formerly of Arlington Avenue in Butler died Sunday at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.
Born Dec. 13, 1916, in Lyndora, she was the daughter of Sam and Anna Keyko Grinnik.
Ann worked in food service at Butler High School for 18 years until her retirement in 1984. During World War II, she worked at Butler Armco.
She was a member of St. Andrew Orthodox Church in Lyndora, the Sisterhood of the Altar at St. Andrew, and a member of the church choir. She was also a life member of the Tanglewood Senior Center.
Her husband, John "Jack" Ordy, who she married Aug. 8, 1936, died Sept. 11, 1972.
She is survived by five sons and their wives, Jack "Bo" and Brenda Ordy, Richard "Pooch" and Patricia Ordy, Robert and Sharon Ordy, Marvin and Diane Ordy, and Ronald and Kimberly Ordy, all of Butler; four daughters, Mrs. Andrew (Patricia) Potyka of Butler, Mrs. Walter (Jean) Laskey of Renfrew, Mrs. Thomas (Barbara) Brown of Houston, Texas, and Julie Moreland of Murrysville; two brothers and their wives, Andrew and Lillian Grinnik of Zelienople, and Stephen and Mary Margaret Grennek of New Castle; three sisters, Mrs. Richard (Helen) Daller of Butler, Mrs. Lawrence (Sophie) McCandless of Kissimmee, Fla., and Mrs. Alice D'Amato of Richmond, Va.; 26 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.
Two sisters, three brothers, and a great-grandson preceded her in death.
<B>ORDY</B> Friends of Ann L. Ordy, who died Sunday, April 12, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew Orthodox Church in Lyndora with Father Joseph Wargo, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at the Northside Cemetery in Butler. Panihida services will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.Information available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
