LANCASTER — Kutztown and rain might have combined to end Slippery Rock University's baseball season Wednesday.

The Golden Bears hung an 8-5 loss on SRU in a first-round PSAC Tournament game. That left The Rock scheduled to play the Mansfield-Mercyhurst loser in an elimination game this morning.

Rain threatened completion of the other three games on Wednesday's schedule, however. Postponement of those games means the PSAC would adjust its schedule and allow only the four first-round winners to continue competing for the automatic berth in the North Atlantic Regional tournament.

Because the PSAC Tournament must be completed by Friday, time does not allow the entire double-elimination schedule to be played.

Kutztown pitcher Dan Gorski struck out 15 Rock hitters Wednesday, but SRU got to him for 12 hits.

Grove City High School graduate Billy Herman had two singles, a double, home run and four RBI while Rich Michalek contributed two doubles, a single and three runs scored for The Rock (36-15).
