Rose Mary Smith
Rose Mary Smith, 85, of Herman died Sunday at the Chicora Medical Center.
Born April 18, 1923, in Herman, she was a daughter of the late Eugene N. and Annie M. (Reott) Geibel.
She was a homemaker and mother and was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman, the Third Order of St. Francis, the Outreach program at St. Mary's and was known as the "Teddy Bear Lady" at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Rose Mary enjoyed sewing, crocheting and making quilts.
Surviving are two sons, Gene F. Smith of East Butler and Wayne K. Smith of Butler; four daughters, Audrey (Dean) Wilson of Slippery Rock, Cindy (Vincent) Double of Butler, LuAnn (Gilbert) Widenhofer of Home, Pa., and Mary (David) Pataky of Butler; five sisters, Mrs. Bernetta Oesterling of Marwood, Mrs. Rita Osche of Herman, Mrs. Robert (Luella) Armahizer of Great Belt, Mrs. Don (Lucille) Reibold of California and Mrs. Arlene Cubbage of Butler; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy A. "Red" Smith, who died Oct. 2, 1975; two brothers; and a sister.
<B>SMITH </B>— Friends of Rose Mary Smith, who died Sunday, March 22, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Friends and family will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, Herman, to hold a memorial Mass. The Rev. Ward Stakem, O.F.M., Cap., pastor, will officiate. Inurnment will take place in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 100 W.
