The Slippery Rock University softball team (16-18, 5-7) split a doubleheader at Edinboro (20-15, 3-5) Thursday, winning the nightcap 3-2 after being blanked in the first game 3-0.

The Rock is tied with Gannon and Mercyhurst for second place in the PSAC West with four division games remaining.

Courtney Vincent, Jordan Zeunges and Sheree Horvath had the only three Rock hits all singles in the first game.

Trailing 1-0 in the nightcap, SRU tied the game in the sixth inning as Vincent reached on a one-out single, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and scored on Jessica Kortz's single.

Edinboro regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth before The Rock tied things again in the seventh. Knoch graduate Kirsten Brant singled, Zeunges walked and Jessica Ellebruch produced a RBI single.

The winning run scored in the 10th inning when freshman pitcher Shaylee Ianno hit a sacrifice fly to plate pinch-runner Whitney Warmus. Ianno struck out 14 in a complete-game effort.
