Sophomore Brett Vescovi pitched a complete game and freshman catcher John Murray went 2-for-3 at the plate as the Slippery Rock University baseball team opened a doubleheader sweep of Ohio Valley (W.Va.) University with an 8-3 win in Game 1 at Critchfield Park Tuesday afternoon.

The Rock won the nightcap 3-1.

Vescovi scattered four hits, struck out six and allowed one earned run in his first start of the season.

Matt Adams had a pair of hits in each game for SRU (28-12).
