Mary C. Shurber
Mary C. Shurber, 95, of Beaumont Lane, Lower Pottsgrove Township, Pottstown, formerly of 501 Negley Ave., Butler, died Friday at the Sanatoga Center.
She was born Oct. 30, 1913, in Butler, the daughter of the late Michael DeCecco and the late Filomena Marini DeCecco.
Mrs. Shurber was a self-employed hairdresser, who owned and operated the Shurber Beauty Salon in Butler for 43 years.
She was a member of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in Hanover and Beech streets in Pottstown.
Mrs. Shurber is survived by a daughter, Joanne C. Iezzi, widow of Dr. Louis A. Iezzi, D.M.D., with whom Mary lived; two sisters, Rose Virgili, widow of Jack Virgili, and Olga Tiberi, widow of Bernard Tiberi, both of Butler; and three grandchildren, Luanne M. Scott, and her husband, Matthew, of Berwyn; Lucinda J. Boalton, and her husband, Matthew, of Boyertown, and Leslie C. Kessler, and her husband, Kurt, of Lititz.
Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Tanner, Carson and Elizabeth Scott, and Kennedy, Larson and Kurt Kessler Jr.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony N. Shurber; a brother, Michael DeCecco; and a sister, Josephine Litz.
<B>SHURBER — </B>Friends of Mary C. Shurber, who died Friday, March 13, 2009, will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in Pottstown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
