Sarah F. Kummer

Sarah "Sally" F. Kummer, 95, of Butler passed away at 2:15 p.m. Sunday at her residence.

She was born May 26, 1913, in Cherry Township, the daughter of the late Benjamin Mont Hockenberry and the late Della Clara Campbell Hockenberry.

Sally was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. She had belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Butler County Historical Society.

She was a graduate of the Butler Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1934. She received post graduate credits from Magee Hospital, Pittsburgh. Sally had been a nurse at Jamison Hospital, New Castle and Magee Hospital, Pittsburgh and had retired from Butler Memorial Hospital.

Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She liked to read anything to do with history, liked to travel, collect antiques and grow flowers.

Surviving are her son, David Kummer of Atlanta; her granddaughter, Mrs. Bert (LeeAnne) Maund of Ozark, Ala.; her grandson and his wife, Capt. David and Jennifer Kummer of Pensacola, Fla.; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William F. Kummer, who she married June 14, 1940, and who died Oct. 20, 1993; and three sisters, Benja Goeddell, Margaret Campbell and Alice Thompson.

<B>KUMMER</B> — Friends of Sarah "Sally" F. Kummer, who died Sunday, March 8, 2009, will be received from 10 until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the <B>Young Funeral Home Ltd.</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, with the Rev. Alden W. Towberman, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Butler Memorial Hospital, 911 E.
