Helen J. Kiern
Helen J. Kiern, 88, of 124 Rothen Avenue, Butler, died Saturday following a short illness with her family at her side.
Born Aug. 19, 1920, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Theresa Rothen.
She had worked as a welder for the Pullman-Standard Car Company in Butler for 30 years until she retired in 1980.
She was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Butler, the Order of the Eastern Star, the St. Mark Golf League and the Butler Athletic Club, where she participated in Silver Sneakers.
Helen enjoyed traveling, bus tours, dining out at restaurants and flowers and was an avid golfer.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Bruce Kiern, whom she married June 24, 1964; two sons, Bruno D. (Janice) Zotter of Fridley, Minn., and Dennis K. (Mary) Zotter of Cabot; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bruno F. Zotter, who died in September 1957; and two brothers.
<B>Kiern</B> — Friends of Helen J. Kiern, who died Saturday, March 7, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., Butler. The Rev.
