SLIPPERY ROCK The Old Stone House will host a Civil War re-enactment April 18 and 19.

Hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 18 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 19 at the historic house at the intersection of Routes 8, 173 and 528, 12 miles north of Butler.

The 10th Pennsylvania Reserves will offer a free public program highlighting the traditions, music and culture of the 19th century. You can visit the soldiers at home and in camp, and watch as they demonstrate military drill and skirmishes.

CRANBERRY TWP The Cranberry Township Historical Society will host a presentation by Carl Robertson at 2 p.m. April 19 at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center in Activity Room 2-3.Robertson is resident 18th-century historian and president and CEO of the Providence Plantation Foundation near Evans City.The presentation will begin with a brief summary of the course and significance of George Washington's first official mission in 1753. Robertson will show a rare collection of digital images that include pictures of the long-forgotten path on which Washington and his scout Christopher Gist nearly died.A question and answer period will follow the presentation, which is based on the research Robertson did for his forthcoming book, "George Washington's First Mission. The Butler County Historical Society will hold its 49th annual meeting at 6 p.m. April 21 at the Butler County Heritage Center, 119 W. New Castle St.This year's meeting will focus on oil. Joe McCloskey will present the evening's program, which will focus on the Petroleum Valley of northeastern Butler County. He will talk about the early settlements of the valley, the early oil discoveries, Petrolia and the Boom of 1872, the growth of the region, the industries and the people.In addition to McCloskey's presentation, the historical society will hold a short annual business meeting and volunteer recognition. PITTSBURGH Music in a Great Space, the concert series at Shadyside Presbyterian Church, presents the Rodrigo Guitar Trio in concert at 4 p.m. April 19.Formed in 1987, the Rodrigo Guitar Trio is recognized as one of the United Kingdom's leading guitar ensembles.
