Anglers went shoulder to shoulder at Hereford Manor Lake n Beaver County, west of Zelienople, on the first day of the state's trout season in 1973. At the time, Hereford Manor was the Pennsylvania Fish Commission's newest public lake. The commission had just purchased the lake that week and stocked it the day before the opener. The commission had stocked 2.4 million trout statewide in its preseason program.
