Cass ­ you need to "check-it-out" again. Prresident Obama was the official Democratic Party presidential candidate at the end of the convention ­ in August, 2008. He wasn't "still fighting it out with Hillary" when the first $85 billion was lent to AIG ­ and the original $85 billion was a 2 year loan.. This loan/bailout was written by current Fed Chairman Bernake and then Fed Bank of New York chairman and current Treasury Sec. Geithner. The framework for this loan/bailout were presented to both Obama and McCain and both approved. As for the bonus money ­ Geithner wrote them into the origginal loan/bailout because they were contractual items for retention of certain people. It was not the surprise that they are now screaming about. Sen. Dodd wrote them back into the second bailout bill at the request of the White House. The Bailout was passed by Congress without being read by members of Congress so the gnashing of teeth crap is just that ­ crap. Obaama broke his promises ­ Put bailout bill on-line for public to readd for 5 days prior to any vote; to go line-by-line in bill and take out that which is not acceptable and send back to Congress ­ neither were ddone. The bill was completed at midnight and voted on by 9:00 am. Reason - Pelosi had a flight to Rome at noon. You need to work on your "selective memory" as you suggest others do ­ you are embbarrassing yourself. As for "torture" ­ if, as you ssuggest, these terrorists were just grabbed off the streets because they were Arabs and sounds like we are the KGB or Gestapo ­ if that were trrue we would have just shot them on the spot not placed them in Cuba. Terrorists are not protected by the Geneva Convention nor by our Constitution because they are not Uniformed Combatants of any country nor citizens of the United States.
