Butler County Symphony Orchestra will perform "Treasured Gems," part of its 60th anniversary series, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Butler Intermediate High School auditorium, 551 Fairground Hill Road.

At the concert, the symphony will recognize Young Musicians of Note, 35 Butler County school music students in grades seven to 12 from seven public and private schools.

On the program also is this year's young artist competition winner, alto saxophonist Justin Polyblank, a senior music education major from Indiana (Pa.) University.

For the concert, the symphony association is collaborating with the Maridon Museum. Pipa player Ming Ke will perform on this traditional Chinese instrument. The concert is being dedicated to the late Mary Hulton Phillips, museum founder.

Seats are reserved. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students in advance and are available at the symphony office, 259 S. Main St. At the door, tickets are $18 and $9

The Incredibly Innovative Innovators of Pittsburgh, a Pittsburgh CLO Gallery of Heroes production, will visit Broad Street Elementary School on April 8.The show travels to local schools, teaching students about the men, women and innovations from Pittsburgh that have helped to change the world the last 250 years.The play talks about Rachel Carson, George Westinghouse and Jonas Salk, among others.For more information, call 412-325-6459.

INDIANA — In conjunction with Abraham Lincoln's 200th birthday, Indiana (Pa.) University will present the play "Time and Time Again: Abraham Through the Ages" by former Butler resident Don Orwald.Orwald received a master's degree in English from IUP and taught in the English department at Knoch High School.The play will begin at 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in the IUP Performing Arts Center's Waller Hall Studio Theater.Admission is free.
