Freight train derails in NE Pa., no one hurt
SCRANTON — A handful of rail cars carrying lumber and sport utility vehicles have derailed in Scranton.
About five cars from a Canadian Pacific Railway freight train went off the rails around noon today, said an emergency management official. No one was hurt.
The cars appeared to be carrying only lumber and some SUVs and there is no public danger, the official said.
He said a crane will probably be needed to right the cars and traffic on the line could be tied up for about a day.
