CABOT — The River City 6, Pittsburgh's brass ensemble composed of six performers from the River City Brass Band, will present its first concert in Cabot at 7 p.m. March 3 in the Concordia Social Hall in Haven I, 112 Marwood Road, entrance two.Tickets are available by calling the Havens leisure services director at 724-352-1571, Ext. 8518. Opus I Music Society of Mars and Cranberry Township is accepting applications for the 2009 scholarship award. Applicants must currently be a junior or senior in a college or university with a major or minor in music. The applicant must be a resident of the Seneca Valley, Mars or Pine-Richland school districts. Applicants who have studied with a teacher who is an Opus I member are eligible.Applications are available through the music departments of the above schools or by written request to: Opus I Music Society, P.O. Box 1664, Cranberry Township, PA 16066-1664. Completed applications must be returned to the society by April 1.Students selected to receive the scholarship award are expected to perform for the May program of Opus I Music Society.For information, contact Linda Maurhoff at 724-625-1761.
