Think you're right on this topic...and government has just gotten bigger ever since. We are taxed to the extreme now, too. I think the popularity of FDR came through ignorance and blind hope that this new deal would turn things around fiscally. Jobs were created. It is true we have made a vicious cirle and have not learned from it.
