Gloria from Butler's post includes a great many anecdotes of FDR's policies that were purported to reverse the Depression, but Gloria fails to consider what would have occurred without those policies and the precedent for government expansion they represented. FDR's work policy amounted to utilizing debt financing, increasing taxation, and monetary manipulations to artificially--because wealth can not be created out of thin air--stimulate the economy. In effect, his policies crowded out private sector spending, inflated wages higher than their market value, and taxed productive Americans without end. The fact that he was elected 4 times to the presidency is only a testament to his populism, not his efficacy at economic policy. As Greg from Butler identifies, "The New Deal was a failed government policy that emphasized creating jobs by spending unjustifiable amounts of taxpayer dollars on infrastructure projects," and is eerily similar to the current stimulus plans.

I don't quite understand Gloria's inclusion of Iranian President Ahmadinejad's ludicrous denial of the Holocaust. Also, for the record, like Gloria, I, too, was born in Pennsylvania.
