PSU finishes 2nd to Michigan in 2008 attendance

STATE COLLEGE — The Penn State Nittany Lions may have won the Big Ten, but they remain second behind Michigan when it comes to football attendance.

Penn State drew an average more than 108,200 fans for its seven home games in 2008.

That was second among major college football programs behind only Michigan's average of about 108,500, according to recently released figures from the NCAA.

Penn State finished second in attendance for the third straight year.

The 2008 season average also fell just short of the school record set the previous year. The 2007 campaign drew roughly 650 more fans per game on average.

The Nittany Lions begin spring practice in late March.
