ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio — George Stiles of Butler won a three-round decision over Kevin Allman of St. Clairsville, Ohio, in the former's first mixed martial arts fight Friday night in St. Clairsville.
Butler's Jason Erdos lost in the first round to Brandon St. Clair on the same fight card.
LOCK HAVEN — Slippery Rock University senior guard Kyle Camper was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Player of the Week for his role in leading The Rock to men's basketball wins over two regionally ranked rivals last week.Camper averaged 16 points and 11.5 assists in SRU wins over Gannon and Edinboro.Gannon was No. 1 in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region rankings. Edinboro was No. 6.Camper committed only five turnovers in 82 minutes of action in the two games.Camper is the third Rock player to receive the Player of the Week honor. Denell Stephens and Maron Brown also earned the award.
JENNERSTOWN — A Western Pennsylvania speedway won't open this season and is listed for sale.Jennerstown Speedway owner Dave Wheeler says he doesn't have the time to run the track and serve as president and CEO of Wheeler Bros. in Somerset.Wheeler says he's not sure if he'll reopen the track next year if it doesn't sell. He also says interest in racing seems to be waning.The track opened in the late 1920s and Wheeler bought it about six years ago. He leased the track last season, but that person left for another job.
