Rock swept by IUP

INDIANA — Maron Brown tallied 25 points and 16 rebounds Saturday, but Slippery Rock University's men's basketball team dropped a 94-78 decision at Indiana University of Pa.

Brown was one of four SRUplayers to reach double figures. Maurice Douglas scored 16 points while point guard Kyle Camper had 13 points and 11 assists.

Denell Stephens contributed 11 points and five rebounds for The Rock (12-7, 3-3).

SRUsank just seven of 36 shots from beyond the 3-point stripe. Michael Evans Jr. was 0-for-9 from beyond the arc.

Five players reached double figures for IUP(16-3, 5-1), led by Thomas Young with 24 points. Darryl Webb had 22 points and 12 rebounds. Julian Sanders came off the bench to score 15 points.

Gerald Brooks and Ashton Smith had 12 points each for the Crimson Hawks.

The Rock trailed only 41-39 at halftime before surrendering 53 points in the second half.

IUP 56, SRU (women) 43 — The Rock (7-12, 2-4) struggled offensively the entire game, shooting just 27.8 percent (15 of 54) from the floor.Amanda Nero was the only SRU player in double figures, scoring 12 points. Sasha Sales had 10 rebounds and five steals, but scored only four points.Indiana (16-3, 5-1) won the game despite shooting only 35.1 percent from the field itself. The Crimson Hawks misfired on all nine of their 3-point attempts.Kylie Miller and Jahzinga Tracey paced IUP with 12 points each, Straci Heberling adding 11.Tracey also had 12 rebounds, five steals and four assists. Heberling had 11 rebounds.Both SRU teams return to action Wednesday night, hosting Califoirnia (Pa.) at Morrow Field House.
