SAXONBURG — A barbecue buffet and western dance will be held beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday in Centennial Hall of St. Luke's Lutheran Church at the corner of Main and State streets.Instructors will teach western and square dancing to participants. Dance participation is not required to attend the event.Dance lessons will be held at 4:30, 6:15 and 7:15 p.m. The buffet will offer an variety of food, drinks and dessert.The event will be open to all ages and will include supervised games for children. Take-out meals will be available.Proceeds will benefit church youth activities.
CHERRY TWP — The Creepers and Crawlers will host a community day from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 31 at Moniteau High School, Route 308.Creepers and Crawlers is a group of high school students focused on educating the community about exotic animals, mostly reptiles and amphibians. The group also provides rehabilitation to sick and unwanted pets.The community day will include animals on display, other animal group displays, games, crafts and food.
MARS — The Mars Public Library will hold story time for children ages 3 to 6 from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays from Feb. 2 to March 30, except for Feb. 16; and from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Wednesdays from Feb. 4 to March 25. These story times are free and do not include crafts.Infant and toddler story time will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Mondays Feb. 2 through March 30, except for Feb. 16.Children must register for all programs by calling 724-625-9048. The sessions will be held at the library, 107 Grand Ave.
The Reality Tour, a drug awareness program for youth ages 10 and older when accompanied by a parent or guardian, will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Butler County Family YMCA, 120 W. Cunningham St. Another program will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Adams Township Municipal Building, 690 Valencia Road, Mars.Registration is required and forms are available at www.realitytour.org.
