BUTLER TWP—The Butler Intermediate High School vocal music department will host the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association's District 5 Chorus Wednesday through Friday at the intermediate high school.

Selected students from the public high school choirs of Butler, Beaver, Lawrence and Mercer counties will compose the 176-voice chorus for the three-day event.

The guest conductor will be Linda Tedford, director of choral activities at Messiah College in Grantham. Tedford is also the founder and conductor of the Susquehanna Chorale, Resident Chamber Choir at the Whitaker Center in Harrisburg and winner of Chorus America's Margaret Hills Award for Choral Excellence.

The festival will culminate with a public concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Butler Intermediate High School auditorium. Tickets will be available at the door.

BUTLER TWP— The Lyons Den Rescue staff will be at the Regal Moraine Pointe Plaza Cinema on Jan. 17. Lyons Den Rescue volunteers will be available from noon to 5 p.m. to answer questions, take applications for adoptions and collect donations for the animal rescue. Items needed include dog food, blankets, dog crates, laundry detergent, dog bowls, collars and leashes.
