PARKER — The Parker City Polar Bear Club will host its annual Polar Bear Plunge Thursday in the Allegheny River.

Those interested in participating should register at noon at the Parker City Boat Launch next to Parker's Landing. The plunge is set for 2 p.m.

A donation of $10 will entitle participants to a T-shirt. Sponsorships are suggested. Proceeds will benefit the Parker City Revitalization Program. A bonfire and refreshments will follow.

Community Health Challenge of Southwestern Pennsylvania and the Butler County Tobacco Free Coalition will begin SmokeStoppers, a free eight-session program designed to help people who want to stop using tobacco.The program will begin at 7 p.m. Jan 7 at Butler Memorial Hospital, 911 E.
