YORK — Police say a bank robbery in York County led to gunfire, a high-speed chase though two counties and culminated with the death of one suspect and the arrest of another. A third suspect remained on the loose.

A bank in West Manchester Township just outside York was robbed about 12:30 p.m. Friday and the three suspects fled on Interstate 83. Police followed in a chase with speeds near 100 mph and they say shots were fired during the pursuit.

Two police cruisers crashed in New Cumberland, Cumberland County, and then the suspects crashed in Lower Allen Township.

One suspect was caught around 1 p.m., one remains at large, and one is dead. The dead suspect has not been identified and police are not sure if the person was killed in a crash or by gunfire.

The condition isn't known of the officers who crashed their cruisers. Police said all three suspects were armed.
