Halloween Happenings

FRANKLIN TWP— Camp Cadet will hold a Ghostly Gray 5K event for mountain bikers at 10 a.m. and walkers and runners at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lutherlyn, 500 Dick Road. Following the 5K, there will be a children's trick-or-treat parade at noon.

Trick-or-treat is for children ages 13 and under. For more information, call State Police troopers Markey or Kesten at 724-284-8100, Ext. 250.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock Parks and Recreation will sponsor a haunted house from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Slippery Rock Park Recreation Center on Main Street.Tickets are available from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays at the park office or at the door.For more information, call 724-794-8180.

CENTER TWP— Trick-or-treat will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Newhaven Court at Clearview, 100 Newhaven Lane.The event will include games, food and prizes. For more information, call Tariogh Crawford at 724-447-8701.

HILLIARDS — A haunted hayride will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. tonight, Friday and Saturday at the Valley Dam Sportsmen's Snowmobile Club, 345 Old Brick Road.The event will include a hayride, concessions and a bonfire and is sponsored by the Moniteau and Slippery Rock Girls Softball Association. It will be handicap accessible.

MIDDLESEX TWP— The Middlesex Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary will sponsor a trick-or-treat event from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 at the fire company parking lot, 130 Browns Hill Road.All children are welcome to attend and enjoy the treats.Enjoy Halloween at Old Stone HouseThe Old Stone House will be home to a ghost story tour 6 to 9 p.m. tonight and Friday at the house on Route 8.The family oriented tour will begin on the front porch and will take visitors through different rooms for stories given by local organizations and Slippery Rock University.The Old Stone House is located at the intersection of Routes 8, 528 and 173, north of Butler.

The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department will host a Halloween event at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Masonic Shelter at Alameda Park. Participants are asked to take a lawn chair and wear costumes. The event will include ghost stories, hot chocolate, hot dogs and popcorn around a bonfire.To register, call 724-284-5385.

The Butler Public Library will host a Halloween party from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the library on North McKean Street.Children are asked to wear costumes. They will enjoy stories, games, snacks and costume judging.For more information, call 724-287-1715.

BUTLER TWP— The Paul Laurence Dunbar Community Center will hold its annual Halloween party from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the center on Fairground Hill road.First-time visitors should register by calling Mary Ann at 724-287-5648.
