Several athletes from Special Olympics Butler County won medals in soccer and bocce at the recent Allegheny County Invitational.

The soccer team of Rosalind Burns, Dylan Hernandes, Tiffanie Howard, Melissa McKinnis, Stephanie Myers, Carla Steffy, Tod Johnson and Julie Held won the silver medal.

Jennifer Affolder, Meckeye Hill, Steven Keck and Cassidy Penrod won gold medals in individual soccer skills while Madeline Burns won silver.

Bocce gold medals were won by Kristen Lindsey and Jeff Walsh, Betsy Cabel and Tim Spence, Miles Morris and Matt Simons, Tom Hastings and Jack Bowen. Dottie Bowen and Kim Bingham won silver.

LATROBE— Former Slippery Rock University men's basketball coach Jamal Palmer was hired as the assistant coach at St. Vincent College.Palmer had served as SRU's head coach for the past two seasons and will work with post players at St. Vincent.

CLEVELAND — Dom Rosselli, the winningest basketball and baseball coach at Youngstown State, has died. He was 93.The university says Rosselli died Tuesday morning.Rosselli totaled 1,000 career wins in the two sports over 38 years. He also served as an assistant football coach for 21 years.Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel said Rosselli will be missed because he affected so many lives. Tressel coached Youngstown State for 15 years before moving to the Buckeyes.Rosselli is survived by his wife, Connie, four children and several grandchildren.
