HARRISBURG — State Attorney General Tom Corbett said Monday he does not expect to file new criminal charges in the legislative bonus investigation until after the Nov. 4 election.

The grand jury overseeing the inquiry is scheduled to meet for one more week before the election, and Corbett's office will not have enough time to present all the testimony and other evidence the panel will need to complete its work, Corbett said in a speech to several dozen people at a Pennsylvania Press Club lunch.

"The bottom line is that the grand jury will not make any more decisions before the election," Corbett said.

Earlier this month, Corbett said his office would not charge anyone between Oct. 1 and the election to avoid undue influence on the balloting. At the time, he said that the arrests could be made by the end of this month only "if all the dominoes fall in the right line."
