LUDLOW — An environmental group has recovered nearly half of the oil spilled last month in Allegheny National Forest.

Weavertown Environmental Group has recovered about 19,000 gallons.

Former employees of Snyder Brothers, 42-year-old Andrew Horton, and his son, Christopher, 22, have been charged with intentionally releasing the oil from Snyder's storage tanks. According to court documents, they were upset with the company because of "how bad they treated us."

ERIE — An Erie grandmother and grandfather are in the county jail after a violent feud over how to reprimand their grandson for not doing his homework.Police say the 8-year-old boy called police Thursday evening, saying his grandmother had a knife and his grandfather a gun.Police say the fight began when 49-year-old Sheila Martin slapped her grandson for not doing his homework. Police say 69-year-old Rodney Keith Peyton told her to stop, and Martin threatened the pair with a knife.Police say Peyton fled with his grandson into the bathroom. They say the boy later ran downstairs to call 911 while Peyton fended off Martin with a shower curtain rod.Martin cornered Peyton, who police say then fired his gun.

PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh woman is guilty of stabbing her boyfriend to death during an argument over a cold, uneaten bagel.Allegheny County Judge John Zottola convicted Patrice Rogers, 22, of voluntary manslaughter in the Feb. 25 killing of her live-in boyfriend, 30-year-old Geno Crenshaw.Police say the argument between Rogers and Crenshaw began when she didn't eat a bagel he had bought her because it was cold. Police say Rogers made a backhanded motion with a kitchen knife, puncturing his heart.
