STATE COLLEGE -- A Penn State University graduate plans to donate $20 million to his alma mater to help educate aspiring architects.

H. Campbell Stuckeman of Pittsburgh announced his big-dollar commitment Thursday. The 1937 graduate and his family now rank among the five most generous donors to the university.

Stuckeman has an undergraduate degree in architecture from Penn State. He is the retired president and chairman of The Precise Corporation, which manufactures machine tools and measuring devices.

PITTSBURGH — All lanes of Pittsburgh's Birgminham Bridge will reopen after a section collapsed seven months ago.PennDOT says lanes will reopen at 10 a.m. Monday. Only parts of the bridge had been open while repairs were made after a section collapsed about eight inches onto a pier on Feb. 8.Officials say rocker bearings, which are meant to allow the bridge to flex with weather and traffic, were unable to return to their upright position because of excess corrosion and debris.

PITTSBURGH — A group opposed to Allegheny County's much-maligned 0.5 percent tax on poured alcoholic drinks is appealing an election board decision to reject a ballot measure slashing the levy.The group Friends Against Counterproductive Taxation has filed an appeal in Common Pleas Court. Three judges, standing in for the county election board, on Tuesday tossed out two ballot measures regarding the 10 percent drink tax. The judges said only county council could raise or lower taxes.
