EXPORT— Joe Boros, club pro at Treesdale Golf Club, finished third in the Tri-State PGAProfessional Championship Tuesday at Westmoreland Country Club.
The top seven placers in the event qualified for the 2009 PGAProfessional National Championship June 28 to July 1 in Santa Ana, N.M.
Boros shot an even-par 142 in the 36-hole qualifier, one stroke behind Brad Westfall and Richard von Tacky.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — NASCAR placed Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards on probation for the next six Sprint Cup Series races Wednesday, the result of their on-track incident last weekend at the end of the race at Bristol Motor Speedway.During the cooldown lap after Edwards' Ford took the checkered flag for Roush Fenway Racing, Busch drove alongside Edwards and bumped his car. Edwards responded by driving the nose of his car into the right side of Busch's Toyota, spinning him out.
CINCINNATI — Quarterback Ben Mauk lost his latest appeal to the NCAA for another year of eligibility Wednesday, leaving him with one final chance to play for Cincinnati.After a couple of days of mixed signals, the NCAA told the former Bearcats' quarterback that it had turned him down for the fourth time. Now, Mauk will appeal directly to the NCAA's reinstatement committee for another season.Mauk will talk to the reinstatement committee by phone today.
