CHARLOTTE, N.C. — NASCAR suspended seven Joe Gibbs Racing crew members indefinitely for attempting to manipulate a horsepower test after a Nationwide Series race last weekend put a serious dent in owner Joe Gibbs' reputation
While NASCAR decided against banning the cars from future races, the penalties were among the harshest NASCAR has levied.
Crew chiefs Jason Ratcliff and Dave Rogers were suspended and fined $50,000 each. No. 18 car chief Dorian Thorsen, engine tuner Michael Johnson and crew member Toby Bigelow and No. 20 car chief Richard Bray and engine tuner Dan Bajek were all suspended indefinitely.
Drivers Tony Stewart and Joey Logano were each docked 150 driver points.
ZELIENOPLE — Conway Sportsman Club is hosting a pig roast and picnic at 2 p.m. Sept. 6 to raise money for cancer patient Gemma Glass.Glass, 20, had earlier beaten ovarian cancer, but was re-diagnosed with the disease in May. LOCKHAVEN— Slippery Rock University's women's soccer team has been picked first in the PSACWest by the conference's preseason coaches poll.The Rock is ranked No. 17 nationally in Division II. West Chester, ranked No. 7, is picked to win the PSACEast.
Dave Cook of Butler will fight Dennis Hasson (3-0) of Philadelphia as part of a professional boxing card at 8 p.m. Aug. 29 in New Alhambra, Pa..Cook (3-1) and Hasson will engage in a four-round middleweight bout.
