PITTSBURGH
A Pittsburgh mall owner no longer wants an appeals court to publicly identify a woman who claims lax security at the mall led to her abduction and rape.
J.J. Gumberg Co. has dropped its Superior Court appeal of an Allegheny County judge's ruling that says the woman can remain anonymous in court documents. Gumberg's attorneys have known the woman's identity for about a year, but it has never been publicized.
Thirty-year-old Jimmy Lee Tayse of Johnstown is serving 67 years to life in prison for abducting the woman from the parking lot of the Waterworks Mall in April 2007, then raping and robbing her in Ohio.
A judge says a Pittsburgh-area middle school teacher was "stupid, idiotic and moronic" — but not criminal — for making sexually suggestive comments to two female students.Allegheny Judge Robert Gallo's decision reverses harassment convictions against 51-year-old Mark Fallon. Fallon allegedly used a slang term to tell one girl her tight skirt was sexually arousing and told another girl her boyfriend should bite off a loose string hanging from her pants. He was suspended for the comments and other reasons but filed a grievance and got his job back.
