Contractor hopes casino work will soon resume
PITTSBURGH — The primary contractor for Pittsburgh's planned casino says subcontractors are not abandoning the project and he hopes construction work will resume in the next week or so.
Dan Keating III is chairman of Philadelphia-based Keating Building Corp.
He says he could have terminated his contract with PITG Gaming for nonpayment on Wednesday.
Instead, Keating is hoping state gaming officials will approve a deal between PITG's Detroit-based owner, Don Barden, and Chicago billionaire Neil Bluhm.
Bluhm hopes to take over majority control of the casino project.
But Keating isn't saying how long he's prepared to wait for that to happen.
