Sounds abound
CONNOQUENESSING TWP — The livestock show isn't the only entertainment at the Butler Farm Show.
To celebrate the show's 60th anniversary, bands from around Pennsylvania will perform during the week.
Here is a list of scheduled activities:
• All week — There will be daily magic shows by Dr. Smart, who will stroll the farm show grounds and perform throughout the day.
Bear Mountain, a live bear show, also will be featured throughout the week.
• Aug. 3 — There will be a nondenominational worship service at 7 p.m. in the auditorium pavilion.
The service will be led by Dennis Hindman and friends from the Rider Lutheran Church.
• Aug. 4 — Dave Martin's Bullride Mania and Cowgirl's Barrel Racing show will be at 7:30 p.m. in the arena. There is a $4 charge to the arena for this event.
• Aug. 5 — The Slim Chance Band, a contemporary country group from Greensburg, will perform from 7 to 8 p.m. and 9 to 10 p.m. in the auditorium pavilion.• Aug. 6 — The Tom Walker Family will play at 7 p.m. in the auditorium pavilion. The night of gospel music will include special guests and will run for up to two and a half hours with no break.The family, from New Castle, has been playing Christ-centered Southern gospel music together for nearly 20 years.• Aug. 7 — The Wrangler Band from New Castle will perform a variety of contemporary rock and country music starting at 7 p.m. in the auditorium pavilion.• Aug. 8 — Bluegrass band Remington Ryde will perform from 7 to 8 p.m. and 9 to 10 p.m. in the auditorium pavilion.• Aug. 9 — Diamonds in the Rough will play at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium pavilion. The country band also will be featured at the fiddling contest, which starts at 5 p.m. and features musicians of all ages.
