Bridge to the Past
As the last passenger train leaves Foxburg and crosses into Armstrong County in 1955, it wraps around so a passenger can see the end of the train. This photograph was taken by the late John Dunlap of Parker who rode the train with his 5-year-old daughter, Nancy. Now Nancy Collette of Portersville, she returned to Foxburg on Thursday to see the remains of the double-deck bridge after its demolition. A new $10.1 million bridge now carries traffic across the Allegheny River there.
