SMALL-TOWN TRADITION

A high school marching band marches down Zelienople's Main Street during the annual Fourth of July parade, which launched the 10th Community Day celebration on July 4, 1970. The festivities that day included games, children's races, a swim show, a dance for teenagers and fireworks at the Community Park. This year, the tradition continued as the Zelienople Rotary Club's Fourth of July parade kicked off festivities on Friday, followed by a Shriners parade. Food and activities for all ages were scheduled throughout the day at the park, followed in the evening by a Pittsburgh Philharmonic performance and fireworks.
