WHAT A GAS! — Mrs. Paul Cumblidge and family friend Darrin Ealy hold a sign found between two walls of an old house the Cumblidge family was demolishing on Grant Street Extension. The photograph was taken on June 7, 1979, at a time when gas was both expensive and scarce due to an energy crisis that occurred in the wake of the Iranian Revolution. The shortage caused some states, including Pennsylvania, to implement odd-even gas rationing, which was used during the 1973 oil crisis.
