MAKING WAVES

Swimmers wait to get into the Butler Memorial Park pool on June 3, 1967. Due to the cost of upkeep, the aging pool has been closed for the past three summers. Would-be swimmers, however, can find relief from the heat at the Alameda Park pool, which is open noon to 7 p.m. Saturday through Aug. 24. The pool will close at 5 p.m. on June 12, 19, 26 and July 7 due to swim meets. Admission is $5, or $2.50 after 4 p.m. Children 2 and younger get in free.
