Mary Margaret Turner, a guidance counselor at Butler Junior High School, receives a monetary gift for her retirement from Paul Hudock, president of the Butler Education Association, on April 29, 1971. Michel, who taught second grade in Clearfield Township; Mabel Andrews, who was an elementary school nurse; and Martha B. Patterson, who taught first grade at Institute Hill. Six other retiring BEA members were awarded for their service at the annual spring banquet. Together, the group rendered a total of 289 years of service.
