PITTSBURGH — Pitt's basketball program must believe the only thing that could be better than one Dixon is two Dixons.

Jermaine Dixon, a junior college guard and the brother of Detroit Pistons guard Juan Dixon, signed with the Panthers after a scholarship became available. He is expected to play immediately for Pitt coach Jamie Dixon, whose team went 27-10 before losing to Michigan State in the second round of the NCAA tournament last month.

The scholarship opened up after Cassin Diggs, a 6-foot-10 center from Williamsport who played little last season, left the program when told his playing time would not increase. He had 16 points and 18 rebounds in nine games during the 2007-08 season.

DAVIE, Fla. — Michigan tackle Jake Long signed a five-year contract with $30 million guaranteed Tuesday with the Miami Dolphins, who plan to select him with the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft.Long's total package is for $57.75 million, said a person familiar with the negotiations who didn't want to be identified because the Dolphins declined to disclose terms.
