GIBSONIA — Prosecutors will refile animal cruelty charges Tuesday against a woman accused of keeping hundreds of cats, some dead and dying, at a western Pennsylvania animal sanctuary.

District Judge Suzanne Blaschak dismissed 593 counts against Linda Bruno on Thursday saying Allegheny County prosecutors failed to provide detailed evidence.

The prosecutors planned to refile the charges Friday, but now Blaschak's secretary says that will happen Tuesday. The secretary says Bruno will be arraigned on the new charges at 11:30 a.m. that day.

PITTSBURGH — Defense attorneys for celebrity pathologist Cyril Wecht want a federal judge in Pittsburgh to stop jury deliberations and declare a mistrial.If that happens, federal prosecutors would have to decide whether to retry Wecht on a 41-count fraud indictment.The jury has deliberated for nine days after the seven-week trial and said Thursday it is deadlocked. U.S. District Judge Arthur Schwab has told the jury to return for more deliberations Monday.
