PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers long snapper Greg Warren, a restricted free agent, signed a $2.3 million, three-year contract that includes a $395,000 signing bonus.

Warren has been Pittsburgh's long snapper since winning the job as an undrafted rookie in 2005.

Slippery Rock High senior Zack Ejzak was named District 10 Region 6 co-player of the year Tuesday.Ejzak, a guard who averaged 17.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game, shared the honor with Franklin junior TimMaleski.Grove City junior Kyle Perrine was a first-team all-region selection. His teammate, senior center Maxx Stutz, made the second team.Slippery Rock sophomore guard Karly Rhoads made the Region 5 first team. Rhoads averaged 14.7 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals.Grove City junior Caitlin McNamara earned a spot on the all-region second team.

CLAIR — Butler boxer Sam Stone will compete in the Golden Gloves Boxing Tournament, sponsored by the Western Pennsylvania Police Athletic League, to be held at the CrownePlaza-South Hills, 164 Fort Couch Road, Saturday.Doors open at 6:30 p.m., bouts begin at 7:30. Mars senior Steve Cress scored 20 points and was named West MVP while Knoch's Rob Briggs added 13 points in the A-K Cager Classic game last Saturday.On Friday, Cress teamed with Hampton's C.J. Graham to win the Coed Hot Shot Championship.In the girls game, Mars' Ellen Kenitz scored 11 points for the victorious West squad while Freeport's Samantha Campbell and Jordan Dunn added five points apiece.
