Purvis Brothers
No one does a better job of serving Butler County residents and businesses than Purvis Brothers.
From what began as a small oil distribution business in 1928, Purvis Brothers has now grown into a family of businesses dedicated to serving the county and beyond. And after 80 years in business, the Mars-based company employs nearly 80 people driven to making their customers' lives easier.
Purvis Brothers operates a variety of businesses in the county. Best known for operating a third-generation Pennzoil lubricants distributorship, Purvis Brothers portfolio includes its leading heating oil supply business, Jiffy Lube Oil Change Centers, Planet Mart Convenience Stores, Purvis Fleet Fueling automated stations and its northeast regional distribution of Chevron/Texaco aviation fuels.
"Our core product has never changed, just evolved," said Mac Purvis Jr., who follows his father and grandfather directing the company.
"Think how much our industry has been impacted in just the past three years with the rise in world energy costs alone. While much has changed in 80 years, the basics of fueling and lubricating our vehicles and equipment as well as heating our homes is still much the same.
"While we now employ modern technology to help our business and serve our customers, Purvis Brothers has a basic belief that business is really about people serving people and that is still the basis of how we operate. We care about our customers, real people answer our phones and we strive every day to provide real service.
"Some people say it is an old-fashioned way of doing business, but we say it's just the right way to do business. We look forward to doing it right for 80 more years."
Purvis Brothers is on Mars-Valencia Road in Mars.
