PITTSBURGH
PITTSBURGH — Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh and West Virginia University are getting up to $26 million in federal funds over the next two years to develop clean and efficient technologies for fossil fuels such as coal.
The partnership, named CWP Inc., will receive the money through a subcontract with a National Energy Technology Laboratory subcontractor.
Carnegie Mellon professor Andrew Gellman said more than 75 scientists and students will work on new technologies for using fossil fuels, reducing the environmental impact of fossil energy use and increasing efficiency of fossil fuel sources.
